Marlow V. Poll
SOUTH WEBER – Marlow Vernon Poll, 91, died Monday, November 24, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.
He was born September 30, 1917 in South Weber, a son of Charles Vernon and Stella Mary Thompson Poll.
On December 14, 1938, Marlow married Elaine Fife in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary at the Comfort Suites with over 100 close family members in attendance.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a High Priest. Marlow was a temple worker and served faithfully as a Home Teacher for many years.
He was a Davis County school bus driver for 28 years and he enjoyed his association with the kids and they loved him. He was proud of his prize winning Jersey herd and he had a great work ethic. Marlow employed many young people throughout the years.
Marlow enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting. His wife, Elaine, was his best friend and the most important person in his life, along with his large family.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine, of South Weber; three sons, Reed (Lana, deceased) Poll, South Weber; Doug “D.A.” (RoLayne) Poll and Vern (Karen) Poll, both of Clinton; Lynda (Doug) Dastrup, Phoenix, AZ; Barbara (Kent, deceased) Mason, Eagle, ID; 18 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, LeRoy (Venice) Poll, South Weber; Irven (Barbara) Poll, Ogden; and one sister, Marion (Garth) Mangum, Bountiful.
Preceding Marlow in death were his parents, two sisters, Ione Coy Youngberg and Doris Buck.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Sam Stanger officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
The family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
