Marlys Elaine Lords Wilcock
September 14, 1938 ~ February 23, 2018
Marlys Elaine Lords Wilcock, but please call her Marty, peacefully slipped away from us on Friday evening, February 23, 2018 in Ogden, Utah. Marty is the second child of Oral William Lords and LaRue Sewell. She was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on September 14, 1938.
After graduating from Granite High School in Murray, Utah, Marty went to work at the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park where she met Fredrick Jackson Wilcock. They married the following year, and after raising two children, Christine and Jack, they later divorced.
As a young married woman Marty excelled at softball, playing second base for the Utah Shamrocks at the John Affleck Park for a number of years.
Marty loved her family, her work, and golf. After a 37 year career at the I.R.S., she gleefully dedicated her whole self to the pursuit of chasing that little white ball.
Marty put her wonderful leadership skills to use by volunteering at the Utah Open, Senior PGA Champion Tour, Nationwide, and Web.com Golf Tour. She also loved the association of the many friends and the women in her pinochle club who laughed and played cards every month for 60 years. Marty served on the board of Millstream Condo Association and was a member of the LDS Lorin Farr 6th Ward.
Marty is survived by her children, Christine Anne (Michael) Bowman of Queen Creek, Arizona and Fred Jackson Wilcock, Jr. of Brigham City, Utah; also her dear sister, Donna (Len) McGee of Maineville, Ohio and sister-in-law, Sheri Lords, Grants Pass, Oregon; along with 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her dear parents and brother, Joseph Charles Lords.
