Marshall Douglas Isaacson passed away at the age of 98 on June 2, 2024.
Born to Jewish parents in Chicago, Illinois, in 1925, Marshall and his family moved to California in 1938, where he was introduced to Jesus Christ as his Jewish Messiah, something which forced him to leave home at the age of 16.
Dropping out of high school at the beginning of WWII, Marshall served in both the US Navy and US Merchant Marines.
Following the war, Marshall ended up in Australia, where he became a pearl-shell diver at Thursday Island in the Torres Strait.
He eventually married and had a daughter, Kathleen.
Coming back to America, Marshall returned to school and eventually became a college teacher.
His second marriage produced a son, David, who lives in Sweden, and the adoption of his daughter, Larissa, also living in Sweden.
Marshall eventually came to Ogden in 1967, where he joined the faculty of Weber State College. There, he met and married Joyce Williams, with whom he spent the happiest 31 years of his life until her death in 2011.
During the last 40 years of his life, Marshall’s primary focus was his love, dedication, and devotion to his Jewish Messiah, Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
Marshall is survived by his children, David (Susanne) Stavenow; daughter, Larissa (Per-Åke) Hultberg; stepchildren, Toni (Scott) Lamph, Shelley Williams, and Debra (Jeff) Wangsgard; and stepdaughter-in-law, Kaylene Williams; grandchildren Simon, Ben, Josie, Timothy, Vanessa, Jasmine, Melanie, Ruben, Ezra, Samuel, and Johannes; great-grandchildren Guy, Beau, Kalani, Oliver, Flynn, Ayla, Carter, Billie, John, Liv, Gabriella; and great-great-grandchildren Nate and Jessie. Marshall is also survived by his sister, Sue Ann Art.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his parents, Hyman and Gertrude; his daughter, Kathleen Coughlan; his stepson, Jeff Williams; and his sister, Sally Jane Birman.
