Martha Irene Beers

Martha Beers of Clearfield, UT; and Rome, NY; died at her home, in the arms of her husband on Sunday, June 15, 2008. She was born in West Eaton, NY on June 25, 1936 to Walter C. and Martha H. Smith. Graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1953 and married her one and only sweetheart, Fred Henry Beers on September 28, 1957 in Rome, NY. She resided in Rome, NY; where their 1st three children were born. They moved to Utah in 1965 where their 4th child was born.

Martha loved her church and church family and more than anything loved her family and home. She worked the graveyard shift at IRS for 27 years so she could be home for her children during the day. She retired in 1995.

Martha enjoyed arts and crafts, reading and crossword puzzles. Her surprising sense of humor charmed everyone she knew.

Surviving are her husband Fred H. Beers, Clearfield; son, Dean H. (Terri) Beers, Bremerton, WA; three daughters, Dawn Y. Lyons, Clinton; Darla J. Beers, Clearfield; Danielle M. (Lonnie) Allen, Pleasant View; nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, brother, Louis K. Smith, three sisters, Virginia DeLand, West Eaton, NY; Shirley Clark, Rome, NY; and Flora Foll, Philomath, OR.

Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Burton Smith, Richard Smith and sister, Phoebe Renzi, lost to cancer March 3, 2008.

The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for care in her last days and the Utah Cancer Specialists during treatment.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Roy, 2025 W. 5700 So. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
