Marvin Doepner Jr.

Marvin A. Doepner (Marv, Buck)

Marvin A Doepner Jr. passed away on January 16, 2014 with his bucket list incomplete.

Marv was born September 11, 1941 to Venice Steck and Marvin A. Doepner, Sr., with a zest for life and adventure.

Marvin joined the Navy in 1963, serving time in Vietnam and receiving an honorable discharge in 1967.  After being discharged, Marvin married Sharrey Oakes; with this union, Marv welcomed Sharrey’s three children and raised them as his own.  He was always “dad.”  Buck worked at Hill AFB, retiring in 1997 as a Quality Assurance Specialist.  After retirement, Marv kept himself busy; he built a wood shop and worked on projects that he gave as gifts to family and friends.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, boating and fishing; his favorite spot for all three was Flaming Gorge.  One of his greatest joys in life was time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  There is a void in our hearts where there once was laughter and love.

Marv is survived by his wife Sharrey, children David (Carmen) Oakes, Ronda (Steve) Speth and Sharlene (Ken) Anacker, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, brother Dave Doepner, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
