Marvin Lee Rowland passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a smile for everyone he met. He rarely was seen without his companion dog. He was a simple man with simple needs but was very giving to those in need. He loved his family dearly.

He was born on December 18, 1933 in Manning, Iowa to Andrew Littleton and Hattie Hall Rowland.

Marvin married Betty Juanita Hunt on June 24, 1955 in Tracy, California. They were later sealed in the Oakland Temple.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a draftsman and continued in this field after his service for several years.

He worked as a firefighter for Contra Costa, California for over 25 years where his fellow firefighters loved his cooking. Many dangerous to funny stories could be told about his time as a firefighter.

Marvin is survived by a son, Mike (Debbie) Rowland; a daughter, Kim (Steve); 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Barbara. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Julie (Richard) Valek; and a brother, Richard.

An Open House will be held in his honor on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  at 6350 Combe Rd, Ogden,UT

He will be buried at Green Valley Cemetery in Folsom, CA.

Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
