Marvin “Marv” DeLos Morris

April 27, 1932 ~ January 11, 2017

On Wednesday, January 11, 2017, Marvin D. Morris returned to his Father in Heaven. Over the last several years, Marv fought a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

He was born to Melvin Morris and Sarah Thornton Morris in Shelley, Idaho on April 27, 1932. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1950 and attended Brigham Young University in Provo.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He married Sharon Bowcutt in 1955, and they were later divorced. On November 4, 1989, Marv married his sweetheart, soul mate and kindred spirit, Linda Naylor Archambeault.

Marv retired as a Federal Contractor at Hill AFB, as an aircraft mechanic in Trans Alert. During the 1960’s and 70’s he was employed at Dugway Proving Grounds as an AMP mechanic and he managed the Michael Army Airfield. For a brief time, Marv was a helicopter pilot for Hoskins Oil Exploration Company.

Marv always pursued ways to challenge himself. When Marv was younger, he obtained a private pilot’s license. While at Dugway, Marv was the president of Toastmaster’s International Chapter.

Marv was passionate about the outdoors and loved spending time in the mountains. During the winter months, Marv spent countless hours hitting the slopes at Snow Basin and Powder Mountain and during the summer, Marv spent time camping, boating and fishing at Flaming Gorge with his wife, Linda.

Marv was adventurous. He enjoyed visiting new places. Marv and Linda traveled to Alaska, Vancouver Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and across the United States. Their favorite place to go was Alaska, in 2014, they had the opportunity to tour the entire state of Alaska.

Marv is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter, Catherine Van Duser, son, Russell Morris, stepdaughters: Melanie Archambeault, Laurie Anderson (Peter) and Leslie Kurys (Shelby); grandchildren: Ashlee Kurys, Alyssa Shelton, Alex Anderson and Dalton Shelton; brothers, William Morris (Ivy), Eugene Morris (Marie) and Kenneth Morris (Sandy), and his dog Daisy. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and two sons-in-law.

Marv had an infectious smile and was quickly loved by everyone. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his wife who will someday be united with him. The family would like to thank the staff at South Ogden Post-Acute for their excellent care and compassionate service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Clinton 7th Ward Chapel, 1448 West 1800 North. The family will meet with friends Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
