Mary Louise Morrison Adams

LAYTON – Mary Louise Morrison Adams, 91, of Layton passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at her daughter’s home after having a stroke.  She was born on August 20, 1922, in Cove, Utah, the ninth of ten children to Alma and Amy Leah Gregory Morrison.

She grew up in a happy home in Franklin, Idaho on a small farm where everyone did their fair share of the work.  After graduation from high school, she came to Layton during World War II to work at HAFB.  A cousin of her future husband lined them up on a blind date.  Dale and Mary were married August 25, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple.  They purchased a log home from Dale’s uncle which included 10 acres. They farmed the land and lived there the rest of their lives.

Mary had a unique sense of humor and really enjoyed visits from family and friends.  All who met her fell in love with her spunky personality.  She loved to tease and laugh.  She had left a great posterity who will dearly miss her.  She taught them how to work hard and enjoy the simple things in life.  She was a member of the LDS Fairfield 2 nd Ward.

Mary Louise is survived by her daughter, Dalene (Delvin) Read, Layton; one sister, Laretta Banks; Cedar City, UT; five grandchildren: Matthew (Jeannie) Read, Orem; Deborah (Roger) Foxley, Farr West; Daniel (Stephanie) Read, Layton; Robert Read, Clinton; and Amy (Preston) Berrett, Layton; three great-grandchildren: Locke, Breckyn, and Rizden Read.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Wright Adams, daughter; Peggy Ann Adams; parents Alma and Amy Leah Gregory Morrison, eight brothers and sisters; Rachel Stone, Edna Taylor, Cleah Holstein, Andrew Morrison, Annie Romer, Leah Bodily, Alma Morrison, and Dilworth Morrison; her parents-in-law, Merlin and Vera Morgan Adams.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
