Mary Allred

Our beloved mother, Mary Jane Ferguson Hatch Allred, 79, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 11, 2009 surrounded by her loving family at her home in West Bountiful. She was born in Lyman, Wyoming, to Isaac Ferguson and Daisy Ione Shelton. She is survived by siblings Ione Jarmillo, Mattie Gard and Duke Ferguson, three children, Danny Hatch, Ken Allred, Bambi Portmann (Rex) 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mom was a caring, generous woman, an independent spirit and free thinker. She loved the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to hold, cuddle and rock them to sleep. "Nana" was frequently one of the first words her little grandchildren would learn. She also spent many hours with her nieces and nephews and their children, who loved the hours of entertainment she could provide. One of her favorite pastimes was reading, she would devour books until eye problems made this extremely difficult. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and woodworking. She lived her life to help others. All you had to say was "I need," if she could build it, sew it or crochet it, you had it. She worked at Hill Air Force Base for 30 years earning respect for her intelligence in the personnel department she supervised. She retired in 1991. An avid Utah Jazz fan often found enjoying wrestling one arm bandits in Wendover and Mesquite. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2009 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist Bountiful Mortuary 727 N 400 E. where friends and family may call 11:30 am to 1:30 pm prior to the services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow at her home. Many thanks to neighbors and friends who have kept the family nourished during this time.
