Mary Marble Atkinson

Mary Marble Atkinson passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Stoney Brooke Assisted Living in Riverdale. Mary was born on May 17, 1929 in Holbrook, Idaho to Bert Orval and Alberta Robbins Marble. She had three sisters and four brothers.

On June 17, 1945, she married Emery C Atkinson in the Logan, Utah temple. They were married for­­­­­­­ 53 years prior to his passing in 1998, and raised four wonderful children together. They lived in Idaho, parts of Utah, and eventually settled in Roy, Utah.

Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings. She taught Primary, Mutual, and Sunday school classes, served as ward organist, chorister, emergency preparedness leader, ward librarian, and as an extraction worker. She was employed as a dental assistant, physician’s assistant, and sold cosmetics. Mary took piano courses from Weber State College and taught piano lessons starting in about 1949. She taught in her home and in the homes of her students for over 60 years. She was deeply loved by many of her students.

Mary and Emery enjoyed many camping trips with their children and friends. They loved the mountains, the outdoors, gardening, preserving the food from their orchard and garden, raising small dogs, and she loved painting.  Later in life, Mary and Emery spent the winters in Quartzsite, Arizona with friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Delon (Colleen, deceased) Atkinson; daughters, MaryEllen (Rickey) Syrett; Sharrie (Danny) Blaylock; and Tamra (Rex) Baker, 21 grandchildren, and 54 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Emery C Atkinson, grandson, Nathan Blaylock, her parents, and by five siblings.

The family wishes to thank the kind staff, especially her nurse, Carole Draper, of Inspriation Hospice and of Stoney Brooke Assisted Living Facility, for their loving and tender care of Mom.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W 5600 S, Roy, Utah. The family will meet with friends on Wednesday evening the 20^th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
