Mary Ann Barnes
May 16, 1940 – March 31, 2017
Mary Ann Bernabei Barnes passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, age of 76 at Davis Hospital, Layton, Utah.
Mary Ann was born May 16, 1940 in Revere, Massachusetts, daughter of Andrew Bernabei and Eleanor DeAngelis. She married Harold William Barnes on January 21, 1961 in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts. Mary Ann was a wonderful wife and mother of three children. She spent much of her married life as a military wife traveling between military posts with her family until they retired in Homestead, Florida.
She worked in a Christmas shop for many years where she enjoyed her fascination with Christmas and collectibles. She loved traveling with her daughter Gina, going to visit her dear friend Roseanne, most recently last fall in Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed Wendover trips with family and friends and she loved BINGO!
Mary Ann and Harold spent teir time after retirement boating with friends until relocating to Utah in 2001 to be near their children. Her children are going to miss the time they spent with her sitting on her front porch on the beautiful spring and summer days admiring her tulips and the view of the Wasatch Mountains. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three loving children, Harold W. Barnes II; Gina M. Kelley: Michael T. Barnes (Melody) all from Layton, Utah; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Bernabei (Eleanor), Maine, two half sisters Joey Bernabei Mettley and Carla Bernabei Talarico both of Florida; and her loving dog Barnabie. Mary was preceded in death last year by her loving husband of 55 years Harold W. Barnes, her sister Francis Degan, and brother William McDermott.
Mary Ann was a dear wife, mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed. Our love for her will stay in our hearts until we meet again. “A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!” We love you!
