Mary “Dee” Cheney
ROY – God saw that she was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arm around her and whispered, “Come home with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer and saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, a determined spirit at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best.
A happy reunion took place on Monday, September 28, 2009 when Dee Cheney left this life to be with her beloved husband and sweetheart, Reed, her daughter, Linda, son, Jerry, and grandson Curtis.
She was born January 12, 1928 to Boyd and Dorothy Hansen in the northeast corner of the family home located in Tremonton, Utah.
Dee married Reed Cheney on February 20, 1970. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on June 13, 1981. Reed died July 27, 2003.
Dee was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she enjoyed many years of service in the library.
She retired from Hill Air Force Base after 25 years of service.
Surviving are her children, Janice (Jay) Starkey), Roy; Sandra McDonald, Roy; Ray Cheney, Ogden; Robert (Elizabeth) Cheney, West Haven; Mike (RaNae) Cheney, Kaysville; Debbie (Shawn) Pyeatt, Graham, WA; 27 plus grandchildren and 32 plus great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Roy City Cemetery.
