Mary Ruth Drysdale
LAYTON – Mary Ruth Drysdale, 86, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015.
She was born Valentine’s Day, 1929 in Ogden, Utah. She loved being everyone’s Valentine. She was the daughter of Charles Clarence and Edaline Rhea Benefiel Hartley. Mary grew up in Ogden and attended Ogden High School.
She married Ronald Levoy Murphy in 1948, they later divorced. Mary married the love of her life, Donald Melvin Drysdale in 1968 in Elko, Nevada.
She retired from HAFB after 30 years of service and sold Avon for over 20 years, where she won awards and made lifelong friendships. Mary served in every capacity for International Training and Communications (ITC), formerly known as Toast Mistresses.
She loved to travel, visit and spend time with her family. Mary loved people and socializing. She was always ready to do anything, go anywhere, anytime. She was the perfect hostess.
Surviving are her husband, children: Janis Morgan, Sandy; Leslye Bee, Layton; Terri (Tim) Stephens, Layton; Ross (Doris) Murphy, Roy; Karen Grandpre, Idaho Falls, ID; Douglas Drysdale, Ogden; Don (Christine) Drysdale, Bolingbrook, IL; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by two daughters: Shannon Murphy, Kathy Richards and one sister, Florence Beckey.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary,1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden.
Family would like to express appreciation and love to our Dad as her primary care giver. The family would also like to give thanks to Hospice Care of Northern Utah for the care they provided.
