Mary Alice Duncan
Mary Alice Duncan, 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Country Pines Retirement Home in Clinton, Utah.
She was born on May 17, 1913, in Layton, Utah the daughter of Lloyd and Alice Moore. She was a nurse''s aide at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She spent 38 years working at the Madison Gift Shop in West Yellowstone, Mt. as an expert on Indian Jewelry. Known as "Madison Mary," she was honest, a hard worker, and a friend to co-workers and storekeepers all over town. She loved Yellowstone Park and the animals. One friend said "She was a good woman, and a standard to live by. We will miss her!" At Country Pines, she was active in the LDS branch, and quite a singer.
She married Leon Duncan who died in 1957.
She is survived by her daughter, Markie (George) White, Walterboro, S. C., many nieces, nephews, and 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 7 great- great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Virgil Doman, and sisters, Vera (Carter) Roundy, Elva (George) Bagshaw, and Ila (James) Tatton, and her son, Jerry Lee Lavender.
Graveside services will be held Monday, April 20, 2009 at11 a.m. at the Kaysville City Cemetery. Thanks go to her caregivers: the staff at Country Pines, the Relief Society, Linda, and Debbie.
