Mary Katherine Evola

Mary Katherine Evola, age 95, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, Utah, where she had been since undergoing a stroke in May 2013. She had enjoyed good health up until the last six months.

She was born in Lightner Creek, Colorado, on December 5, 1917, to Joseph and Elizabeth Richiardi Varaia who emigrated from Italy. She was the fourth child in a family of seven children a€" six girls and one boy.

Mary married John A. Evola on July 15, 1943. He was a native of Pittsburg, California, where they lived for nearly 40 years. John passed away on November 30, 1982. Johnnie was a successful contractor by trade and an avid hunter, sportsman, and marksmen. Mary accompanied him on an African Safari in 1956. They brought back many trophies from that trip. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and being with Johnnie on his hunting and fishing outdoor activities.

Mary has lived with her one surviving sister, Pauline Reza, in Fruit Heights, Utah, for the past six years. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, and one brother.

Friends may visit with family on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.

A Graveside gathering will be held on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Antioch, California, where she will be buried in the mausoleum by her husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to a charity of your choice as Mary contributed to several organizations.
