Mary C. Ford
ROY – Mary Kathryn Claypool Ford, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at Emeritus Estates Wednesday March 3, 2010 in Ogden.
She was born August 30, 1922, in Grover, Colorado, the daughter of John Martin and Marie Mueller Claypool.
Mary grew up in Grover, Colorado. In 1935, she moved to Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School and LDS Business College. Mary worked 29 years at Hill Air Force Base and received numerous awards for her outstanding performance. She also worked at the General Depot.
On October 14, 1944, Mary married Albert Henry Ford. They enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. From this union a daughter, Marilyn Marie and a son, Bryce Albert were born.
Mary and Albert enjoyed the Elks Lodge and loved to dance. They also enjoyed their membership in the U.P. Old Timers Club. Mary was involved with and attended the Ladies of the Railroad. Mary and her husband, Albert were members of the Northern Utah Golden Spikers Club for many years and made many lasting friendships with the “Good Sams”. As part of the club, Mary an Albert raised money and did charity work for “Make-A-Wish” Foundation, St. Anne’s Shelter, YCC for Battered Women and Children, Search and Rescue Dogs, Rescue Mission Food Bank, Children and Families of Soldiers in the Service, Hospice, and numerous other charities.
Mary and Albert enjoyed traveling. They had many wonderful adventures throughout the United State and Canada. The Lake Powell trips were always with family and friends and an event of which Mary will always be remembered for her “keeping everyone laughing”.
Mary loved the Wendover bus trips and was always ready to go. She had her favorite slot machines there and Mary would have Albert help her win. She shared her numerous winnings with Albert, as they always had a 50/50 deal!.
Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn Ford Barber, Pleasant Hill, CA; grandchildren, Tyler (Shannon) Ford, Harrisville, UT; Andrea (Trevor) Earl, Ogden, UT; Amie Marie Barber, Portland, OR; and great-grandchildren, Macintyre Albert Ford, Isabel Dlynn Ford, Justin Pace, and Christian Trevor Earl.
She is also survived by her sisters, Sally Taylor, Burley, ID; and Audrey Veraldi, Ogden, UT; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Henry, her parents, brother Eugene, sister Betty and son Bryce Albert.
The family expresses special thanks to Lori and Candace at Applegate Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
