Mary Johanna Heszler Fowers

May 21, 1938 ~ December 30, 2018

The flowers in Heaven bloom a little more now, stand a little taller, and will be well taken care of.

Mary Johanna Heszler Fowers passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018. She was born May 21, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Fredrick Johannes and Bernice Rae Heszler. She was a loving and selfless person who often put others needs before her own.

Mary Jo graduated from Ogden High School and received her Bachelor's degree in teaching from Utah State University. She deeply enjoyed teaching physical education at Ben Lomond High School. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, but her favorite was teaching Sunday School.

On November 19, 1965, she married Ronald Fowers in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they put down roots in Hooper, Utah. Mary Jo enjoyed gardening, sewing, and genealogy. She was loved by all who knew her.

Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Bernice, her son Mark Fowers and her sisters Barbara Olsen and Penny Dopp. She loved and adored her family and is survived by her husband Ronald; children, Michelle Schneider, Scott Fowers (Tracy), Thane Fowers (Jody), Kathy Smith {Josh);her brother Fred Heszler (Jill);13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mary Jo believed in hard work and that good things would come from hard work. She taught her children to work hard and in her later years taught her grandchildren how to work in the garden. It was a treat to go to grandma's house and help in the garden. She would pay the kids in popsicles, soda, mints and quality time with grandma.

We are thankful for all of those who cared for Mary Jo in her final days.
