FARMINGTON - Mary Helen Farmer Hughes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend slipped peacefully from this existence on November 19, 2009.

Mary was born December 7, 1925 in Provo, Utah to Fred Farmer and Helen Ruth Wadley. She was the youngest of three children. Mary was sealed to Howard Sterling Hughes on June 28, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their six children in a home they built themselves in Farmington.

Mary graduated with a Masters of Social Work (MSW) in 1968 with high honors. During these challenging years of college, she always put her family first while establishing in her children''s minds the importance of education. In 1977 she developed the Parent Education Resource Center (PERC) for Davis School District. Through this center Mary touched countless parents'' and children''s lives.

Mary encouraged and supported each of her children in their different endeavors and interests, from music, to hunting, to sports. Mary was her children''s greatest fan. She and Howard instilled in their children a strong work ethic which extends down to their grandchildren and great grandchildren. She worked hard to keep their family close. She spent time, energy and love with each of her grandchildren building relationships that will last eternally. This love and effort was also extended to her great- grandchildren. Her family was the most important part of her life.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Sterling Hughes; a son, Timothy Marion Hughes; a grandson, Jonathan Hughes; her parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Orpha Farmer, and a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Harold Mecham.

She is survived by her children, Becky (Jan Felix) of Lehi, UT; Tom (Arlene Buhler) of Ucon, ID; Helen (Ken Vick) of Prescott, AZ; Fred (Toni Russell) of Centerville, UT and Gene (Terri Hansen) of Mountain Green, UT. 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Farmington 18th Ward Chapel, 1395 South 200 East. Friends may call Sunday, November 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Monday 9:30 a€" 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment Farmington City Cemetery.
