OGDEN a€" Mary Staley Hunter passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Peach Tree Place surrounded by her loving family, from complications of Alzheimer''s Disease. She was 84.

She was born in Coalville, Utah October 3, 1922 to Jared T. and Nettie Gale Staley.

Mary was married to Elmo H. Hunter on October 13, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away in July of 1977.

Mary grew up and attended school in Coalville. She spent treasured times as a young girl in Grass Creek, Utah where her father worked in the coal mines.

Mary came to Ogden to work at DDO during WWII, where she met Elmo. When her children were older, she went to work in the school lunch program for Ogden City Schools and worked at Mount Ogden Junior High as a manager until her retirement in 1987. During that time she also worked in the Summer Migrant school lunch program. She loved her home on 30th street in Ogden where she had many friends. For the past 14 years, she lived with her daughter Marianne who was her caretaker.

She loved to read. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She also loved the time spent at the family cabin where she would be surrounded by her family. She really enjoyed the times when she would get together with her brother and sister and talk about her early years in Coalville and Grass Creek. She loved most of all, the time she spent with her grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren.

Mary was a Gold Star Mother losing her son Lynn in the Vietnam War. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings in the church including the Primary as a teacher and president, and in the Relief Society as a teacher and secretary. She loved going to the temple.

Mary is survived by her children, Lynda (Robert) Bremer, Marianne Hunter, Lee (Suzie) Hunter, and Kim (Sharon) Hunter, five grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Venstra, Ronald (Shantel) Bremer, Jason (Heather) Bremer, and Lisa Bremer, and five great-grandchildren, Zack, Kailee, and Keldon Venstra, Ethan and Gentry Bremer, and her sister Kathryn Lockett, and brother Lewis G. Staley.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elmo, and her son Lynn E. Hunter.

Even in Grammy''s last days, she kept her sense of humor and her witty personality.

The family extends their thanks to Hospice For Utah and the staff of Peach Tree Place for the love and care they gave to Mary.
