Mary Frances Flanders Jenkins

June 5, 1947 — April 12, 2025

Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Mary Frances Flanders Jenkins, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 12, 2025. She was born in Salt Lake City on June 5, 1947, the daughter of Alma and Edna Flanders. She lived in several places growing up but graduated in 1965 from Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite, Nevada.

Mary married the love of her life Dean Roy Jenkins on February 5, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Washington Terrace where they raised their children. They enjoyed 34 wonderful years together until Dean’s passing on December 26, 2005.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various callings. Mary was generous to a fault and lived her life selflessly serving others, even when she was sick.

Mary worked for the IRS for many years, eventually retiring. She wasn't shy about introducing herself to new friends and made them everywhere she went.

She was a prolific knitter and crocheter, making many treasured items for family and friends. Although she didn’t love camping, she did love spending that time being with her husband. After Dean passed away, she found joy in traveling with her friend and experiencing new foods and cultures. She also enjoyed genealogy.

Mary is survived by her sons, Eldon (Amy) Jenkins and Kenneth (Darrelyn) Jenkins; her daughter, Kristy (Josh) Clark; grandchildren, Kyelie, Caleb, Eliza, Samuel, and Ellie; siblings, Claude, Paul (Gabina), Mildred, Polly, and Cindy; sister-in-law, Nancy; and her beloved cat, Waffles. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dean; daughter, Mardean; parents, Alma (Sue) and Edna; sister, Mabel; brother, Robert; and her many cherished pets — most recently her beloved Lhasa Apso, Stain.
