OGDEN – Mary Elthura Judkins passed away peacefully April 4, 2009 in Ogden City, Utah.
She was born March 28, 1917 in Paris, Idaho to Ernest Herman Wilker and Rhoda Rozeltha Wallentine.
Elthura graduated from Idaho State University with a teaching degree.
She married her sweetheart Arthur Melvin Hayes on March 15, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed for all eternity at the Logan Temple on January 28, 1941.
Melvin passed away December 31, 1981. After his passing she married Clifford Frank Judkins in 1990.
Elthura was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in numerous callings. She worked many years as a teacher’s aide in the Ogden City Schools and was an active volunteer for the Ogden City Senior Center where she provided many years of service.
She was particularly fond of Yuma, Arizona where she wintered with her companions for over 20 years. She acquired many lasting friendships in Yuma and was known for her famous carrot cake, which she provided for many gatherings and special occasions.
Elthura is survived by her children; VaNita (Marty) Liska and Edwin (April) Hayes, her grandchildren; Donna, Jeff, Holly, Kimberly, Colette, Ryan, Cade, Ashli, and Brandi. Also surviving are fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her eternal companion, Arthur Melvin Hayes and her beloved companion, Clifford Frank Judkins, her brothers, Grover, Carl, Max, Dean and her sister, Leola.
She was beloved by all whom she came in contact with throughout her long and fulfilling life and will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
Family and friends may call Thursday morning 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
