Mary Ophelia Fernandez Lovato “Mamma”
Mary Lovato passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2015 due to complications related to Alzheimer’s. She was born October 10, 1928 in Durango, Colorado to Edward and Augustina and was the oldest of 5 children. She met and married the love of her life, Johnnie Lovato, in 1947 and they were married for over 67 years. Later they moved to Clearfield, Utah to make their forever home. She was employed for many years and retired from Hill Air Force Base. She was a devout Catholic and long-time parishioner of St. Rose of Lima. She also had a great fondness for her lifetime companions, mini poodles all named Little Boy. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could often be found listening and singing to Mexican music, speaking Spanish to anyone she could, yodeling, hugging, kissing and holding hands of everyone she met. Mom taught her entire family to have faith in God, work hard, be honest, and to love family. She was a charismatic presence in any room and always the life of the party. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who loved her.
