Mary Lynn Rogers Lyon
December 3, 1950 ~ January 29, 2016
Our beautiful wife, sister, mother and nana, Mary Lynn Rogers Lyon, age 65, passed away on January 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family due to complications of carcinoid cancer. She lived life to the fullest and fought this disease courageously for 12 years. She was born on December 3, 1950 to Lyle L. Rogers and Bernyce Child Rogers Singleton in Roy, UT. She graduated from Roy High School. On June 8, 1969, she married her high school sweetheart, John A. Lyon. They are the parents of Aimee M. (Scott) Bentley and Matthew J. Lyon. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren, Bailee (Jordan Jessop), Hannah, and Grace Reed. She enjoyed being with her family whether it be camping up at Bear Lake, playing a competitive game of Canasta, girl’s only shopping weekend in Park City with Aimee and her daughters, riding ATV’s in the mountains with dad, or a gallery stroll with Matthew. She was always up for fun and she made us all feel very special and important.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had many callings over the years including Ward and Stake Primary President which she loved dearly. She exemplified kindness and service to others.
Mary is survived by her sisters, Jeane Taylor, Kathryn McLean, and Edee (Chris) Walker. She had a warm relationship with all of her many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Susan M. Rogers; brother, Richard L. Rogers; and brother-in-law David J. Taylor.
She encouraged her family and friends to do and be the best they could—we will honor her memory by doing and being those things. “We can do hard things!”
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Lorin Farr LDS 5th Ward, 1606 E. 1300 S. Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
Her family would like to thank the kind medical care given to her by Dr. Johnson and the staffs at Utah Hematology & Oncology and Intermountain Homecare/Hospice at McKay-Dee Hospital. And a special thank you to Edee Walker, who gave such loving care to her sister.
