Mary E McKenzie

February 12, 1924 — November 2, 2007

Mary E McKenzie

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully Friday, November 2, 2007, surrounded by her family.

She was born Mary Etta Gordon on February 12, 1924 in Eufala, Alabama to George H. and Katie Jones Gordon.

In August of 1942, Mary married Wayne Lee McKenzie. They had four children. Wayne preceded her in death in 1993.

Mary was born a care-giver, working in the nursing profession for over 50 years as well as several years of volunteer service. She even trained the nurse who would later care for her during her final days. Mary touched countless lives with her giving nature and sense of humor. Her contagious laugh and "southern charm" won her friends where ever she went.

She held state offices in the LPN Association and The American Legion Auxiliary, serving at Girl''s State for numerous years.

Mary loved her cabin in the Uinta Mountains. She enjoyed spending summers there with her family and friends. She was truly "Queen of the Mountain", hosting countless parties and weekend gatherings. Our mountain home will never be the same without her.

She is survived by her children, Gloria June (Michael) Jones, Allen Wayne McKenzie and Teresa (Robert Zachary) McKenzie; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by one son, William and one grandson, Joshua.

The family would like to thank both Crestwood Care Center and Country Pines Assisted Living for caring for Mary as if she were family.

Friends and family may call Thursday, November 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
