Mary Ann Pepple McRoberts
Mary Ann Pepple McRoberts, 92, a resident of Fruit Heights, Utah passed away on Saturday June 16, 2012 in Layton, Utah due to heart failure.
She was born December 8, 1919 in Gary, Indiana to Howard E. and Mayme/Mary Pepple and was the youngest of three daughters. She graduated from Emerson High School in 1938 and began her career as a bookkeeper with the local utility company.
She met her husband, Alan Ben McRoberts during World War II in a USO club in Chicago and after their first dance, Alan who was a very confident Marine, told her that someday he was going to marry her and he did on March 25, 1944 in Hawthorne, California. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in July of 1965.
She loved doing cross stitch, genealogy, working in the Palos Verdes Public Library for many years and most recently, serving in the Bountiful LDS Temple for nearly 18 years. She believed in working for what you received and taught her family to do the same.
She is survived by three children: Howard A. (Patricia M.) McRoberts, Dana S. McRoberts, daughter Alana Rae (Laurence) Purcell, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, and her husband who passed away 28 years earlier.
She will be greatly missed by all that knew her but oh what a glorious reunion she must have had upon returning home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Fruit Heights 4th Ward, 24 Country Lane. Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
