Mary Ethel Spaulding Neil

Mary Ethel Spaulding Neil passed peacefully in her sleep July 15, 2022. Mary was born July 29, 1943 in Price, Utah to parents Ralph DeForest Spaulding and Emma Lucille Hitchcock/Barzee. Mary grew up in Ogden, UT and graduated from Ogden High School, she then started her career as a devoted IRS employee, where she worked for 50 years.
She met the love of her life, Claude E. Neil, at the Single Swingers Square Dance Club, they were married February 12, 1978 in Elko, Nevada. They were happily married for 21 years and celebrated their anniversary monthly at Zitto’s Steakhouse.
Mary loved making people smile with colorful clothes and costumes. She had clothes, jewelry, and decorations for every occasion and holiday. She was a die-hard Elvis fan and had the honor of visiting Graceland with her sister Jean and niece Cherry. Another of her favorite adventures included a Carnival Cruise with her dear friend Shirley.
Mary described herself as being “all in” as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found peace and joy at the temple. Mary’s goal was to be an example of dedication and commitment to her children. Mary had a quiet strength about her and loved to help everyone, anytime and anywhere.
Mary is survived by her three children, Michael, Chris, and Michelle; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and many other beloved family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Marvin, Janeal, and Margie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Steve Evans and the rest of the staff at Tender Care Home Health and Hospice as well as her 5th Ward family, numerous neighbors, and friends for their love, and support as well as the joy they brought to Mary’s life.
