Mary L. Norman

LAYTON - Mary L. Norman passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Thursday, June 5, 2014 attended by her daughter.  Mary was a wonderful woman, wife, and mother.  She was full of life, fun, humor, curiosity, and the desire to travel, explore, and share new adventures.  She cherished her many friends including her latest partner in crime, Norma.  Mary’s classic catch phrase was, “Who you lookin’ at kid?” which reflects her spunky, independent, but casual and friendly spirit.

She was born in Dallas Texas November 13, 1928.  She attended school in Mesquite, Texas.  In the 1950s, she worked for downtown Dallas landmarks Titche's Department Store and Suggs Office Supply where she became interested in accounting and tax work.

She married the love of her life, Larry Norman, September 14, 1949 in Seagoville, Texas.  They were together 60 years until Larry’s death.  They moved to Moab, Utah, in 1956 during the Uranium Boom.  Mary remained a natural Texan who never lost her accent.  They lived in Moab 38 years.  As a bookkeeper and tax consultant, Mary worked many years for Ed Claus, CPA, and Moab Bit and Tool.  Mary and Larry moved to Layton, Utah, to be near their daughter and son-in-law.  They took many cruises and trips.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Dan O’Laurie Museum in Moab and at Antelope Island State Park.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Guy Hayden, and by nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband (Larry), her parents Myrtle and J R Krone, and her brother, Roy Earl Krone.

I’ll miss you dearly Mom!  Thanks to Legacy Village of Layton, Dr James Rees, and Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for their wonderful support of Mary and her family.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 4 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton with Pastor John Parsley.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Clearfield Community Church.
