Mary Jo Porter

Mary Jo Porter passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She lives on in our memories as a fighter for her family and our community.

She was born in Ogden, Utah on August 10,, 1965 to Mary and Joe. She went to school where she met her sweetheart Russell Porter. They were married on September 19, 1981. Mary and Russ started their family in Ogden, Utah and made many memorable memories together.

Mary worked in the medical field for 30 years most memorably for University of Utah Pediatric Neurology loved helping those in need. She lit up the room with her infectious laughter and her kind heart. She was an avid dog lover and spent a lot of her free time with her furbabies Red, Ellie, Flower, and Breezy.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband Russ - who supported her fight and brought her joy – and her most proud accomplishments, her children: Mindi, Misti, Nicholas, and Terry and his wife Sabrina. She is also survived by her brothers Terry, Waid, Joe and his wife Katherine, and Calvin; grandchildren: Laci, Mandy, Ally, Andrew, Melody, Zayden, Alec and Isaiah. Also her great- grandchild, Opal. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
