Mary Ann Spindler

November 12, 1947 ~ April 16, 2015

Our loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home, in the arms of her husband, Ron, on April 16, 2015 after a strong fight against cancer.

Mary Ann was born on November 12, 1947 in Great Bend, KS, the second child and only girl of Grace and Doc Comeau.  She spent her early years in Kansas and Colorado, before moving to Utah and settling in Roy.  She loved to go with her family on camping trips as a girl growing up and had a love for the outdoors and nature.

She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and graduated with a very small class in 1965.  She then became a secretary at Hill Air Force Base.  This is where she met a wild eyed, strapping, young airman name Ron Spindler.  They corresponded through letters through his deployments with USAF, and married on June 13, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Father Neil Herrlich.

Mary Ann and Ron had three children, Stephanie, Kimberly, and Brian.  She worked for the U.S. Forest Service, in the Library and as a Land Law Examiner, making lifelong friends along the way in Irene, Barb, Diane, and Leann.  She retired in 2007.  Always a supporter of her children, she rarely missed gymnastics meets, swim meets, cheer competitions, football, baseball, and hockey games.

She had a passion for shopping, often taking her kids and grandkids with her.  She loved her two grandchildren, Kaden and Kameryn Wilson, and was excited to take them to and from school, and everywhere else she could.  She had a special bond with them that remains now.  She also loved to have get-together’s with the family (any excuse to have a party), loved Las Vegas and her trips to Paris and London and was an avid reader.

Mary is survived by her husband, Ron; daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Sphar, son, Brian; as well as her brothers, Bill (Patty) Comeau and Steve (Shelia) Comeau.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaden Wilson and Kameryn Wilson; and nieces and nephews, Shirlayne, Kyle, Michelle, Billy, Jeff, and Jennifer, and their spouses and children.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kimberly; brother, Norm; and nephew, Vince.  We all know you are having a great time visiting with your family and was welcomed with open arms.

The family will have a Private Service and Celebration of Mary Ann’s life, as per her wishes, at a later date.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

We would also like to send a sincere thank you to Dr. Gary Holland, and the staff at Hospice for Utah, especially Jackie, Brandi, Stephanie, and Nicole, for the loving care they provided for mom.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to McKay Dee Foundation or Huntsman Cancer Institute for cancer education and research.
