Mary Elizabeth Ward

LAYTON – Mary Elizabeth Ward, 77, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014. She was born February 4, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Melvin Evan and Caroline Teresa Arko Bean. She married Verne Grimsley and they were later divorced. She married Kendall R. Ward and they were later divorced.

She was employed at IRS, Max Factor, and retired from HAFB. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by three sons: Daniel (Cathy) Grimsley, Layton; William J. Ward, Kearns; Evan J. (Becky) Ward, Layton; daughters Ruth Thornley, Layton; Susan Lawrence, Roy; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; brother Robert Bean, Salt Lake City; sisters: Judith A. Bean, Salt Lake City; Linda Hughes, Sandy; Janice Cheney, West Valley.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
