Mary Marcia Cook Whitear

BOUNTIFUL – Mary Marcia Cook Whitear, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

She was born July 18, 1929 in Evanston, Wyoming the daughter of George Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Hutchinson Cook.

Marcia married her high school sweetheart Melvin Joseph Whitear on July 1, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. For nearly 66 years she has been the love of his life. They were happiest when they were together side by side holding hands.

Marcia was a room mother at Muir Elementary for her children. She loved to go to the cabin, play pinochle, decorate her home and camp. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she made it magical for her family. She was a loving mother and devoted wife, selfless person and loved by all.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a Primary Teacher, Librarian and worked in the Bountiful Temple.

Surviving are her husband Melvin Joseph Whitear, Bountiful; Mark (Kathy) Whitear, Granite Falls, MN; Roger (Jen) Whitear, Kaysville; daughters, Cathy Whitear, Ogden; Lori (Gary) Wilson, Kaysville; Nancy (Jeff) Sowell, Clearfield; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
