Mary Dell Butterfield McFarland

Mary Dell Butterfield McFarland, 84, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. She was born on April 6, 1934 in Sugar City, ID, the daughter of Max and Ellen Knight Butterfield. She grew up in Sugar City and Egin, Idaho, and graduated from St. Anthony High School.

She married L. Gean McFarland on April 29, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

In 1956, after Gean returned from military service they moved to Ogden.  Mary attended Ogden Beauty School and was a beautician for 37 years.

Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed being the ward organist for 56 years.

She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and shopping with her friends. She made friends with everyone.

Mary is survived by her husband, L. Gean; daughter, Sherrill (Tom) Lowder; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Bill and Lorin Butterfield.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn; parents, and grandson, Derek Hinojosa.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
