“Together Again”

WASHINGTON TERRACE – Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, and friend Mary Lou Funk Cordon, age 82, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014.  She was born on June 29, 1932 to Cyril R. and Hazel J. Funk.  She was raised in Richmond, Utah and married Edgar Nelson Cordon on December 14, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple.  They are the proud parents of four children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She graduated from North Cache High School, attended Utah State Agricultural College and Weber State College, and lived in Ogden since 1954.  Her main occupation was being a wife, mother, and homemaker and worked outside the home at J.C. Penney’s, the IRS, and retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1993 as a Provisioning Specialist.

Mary Lou was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 2 nd Ward, serving in many ward and stake positions and especially loved Relief Society.  She served as a missionary with her husband Nelson to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City before he passed away with ALS in 1999.

Mary Lou was an accomplished mother and cook, famous for her homemade candy and rhubarb pie.  She blessed many people with her homegrown flower bouquets, cooking and crafts.  She loved traveling, camping, and boating with her family and was happiest being with her family or serving others.  Mary Lou was heavily involved in the Lions Club of Washington Terrace for many years and served as President in 2000-2001, Red Hats Club, and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Kathy (Leroy) Sutton, Kent, Keith (Marva), and Kelly (Lorri); sisters, Anna (Bert) Wheeler, Helen (Kenneth) Cutler, Ramona (Kenneth) Turner; and brother, Clarence (Joan) Funk.

She was preceded in death by brother, Reed (Donna) Funk.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
