KAYSVILLE – Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and the light of our life passed away surrounded by family and friends on July 14, 2019 at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah.
She was born August 2, 1939 to Jose Remigio Chavez and Maria De Luz "Lucy" Romero in Cortez, Colorado.
MaryLou married Glen Mortensen on July 23, 1966 in Taylorsville, Utah.
She loved doing puzzles, word finds, going to church, eating green chili, shopping, getting her hair and nails done. She like watching the TV shows Perry Mason and Jeopardy. She had to have everything red even her roses. She loved to listen to Jazz and being with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Gina L. Chavez, Shelly D.Watts, Tish Mortensen Fenner (Alex), 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two on the way, two brothers and one sister.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
