Our loving sister, aunt and friend, Masayo Sato, 96, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was born March 10, 1920 in Ogden, Utah to Saburoji and Tome Yoshimura.

Masayo graduated from Ogden High School. She resided in Ogden and Roy. She married Harry Sato on June 14, 1952. She worked at Utah Knitting Mills and retired from Hill AFB.

She was a member of the Ogden Buddhist Church and Buddhist Women’s Association. She took pride in her garden and loved her trips to Wendover with her close friends. She was an excellent cook and everyone looked forward to her delicious manju and mochi.

Masayo is survived by brothers, Tokuo (Yoshie) Yoshimura, Roy, and George (Jeanette) Yoshimura, Roy; brothers-in-law, Min Okuda and John Martinez; stepchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Utako (Yoshikazu) Shigemura, Aki Okuda, Dai (Sumi) Yoshimura, and Tobe Martinez; niece, Debbie Yoshimura; and nephew, Ron Martinez.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Friends may visit with family from 9 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Her wishes for cremation will be made under the direction of Lindquist Mortuary. Interment will be at Ogden City Cemetery.
