Mathew Kenneth Marchant
November 19, 1942 ~ December 25, 2016
Mathew K. Marchant passed away peacefully at home. Mat was born on November 19, 1942, in Roosevelt, Utah; the fourth child of 13 brothers and sisters. His parents, Albert G. Marchant and Dorothy M. Foley, raised their children on the family farm. They later settled in Ogden, Utah, in 1960.
Mat married Donna Wallberg on December 11, 1961, in Evanston, Wyoming. They raised four beautiful children, Bruce, Kenny, Paul and Lori in Ogden and West Point.
Mat was a very skilled mechanic, working at the Defense Depot Ogden for over 25 years. He retired but continued doing what he loved—raising cattle and caring for his horses on his land near Delta. Mat was a true “cowboy”. He had a life-long love of horses, hunting, camping and spending time with his family.
He had a special bond with his children and grandchildren.
Mat was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mat is survived by his sons, Bruce (Sandee) of Ogden; and Paul (Angie) of Layton; his daughter Lori (Brett) Murdock of Clinton; and seven grandchildren: Kamiah, Holley, Christopher, Cheyenne, Tate, Cooper and Allyson. He is also survived by three brothers: Ralph, Kay and Lynn; five sisters: Dorothy, Donna, Linda, Carol and Joyce. He was preceded in death by his son Kenny, his wife Donna, his parents and four brothers: Mark, Richard, Bill and John.
A special thank you goes out to his sister, Linda. Your kindness, generosity and love were such a blessing to Mat the last few years.
