Mathew Tim Morris

Mathew Tim Morris, 43, passed away in his sleep on September 3, 2016, in Wendover, Nevada during a weekend getaway with his wife. He was born on January 25, 1973 in Ogden, Utah to S. Tim and Tamra Clifton Morris.
He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1991 and Weber State University in 2013. He served in the German Hamburg Mission from 1992 to 1994.
He married Renae Allgood in 1996. They were later divorced. He married Angela Ruth Walling in April 2004.
Mathew was an enlisted member of the Utah Army National Guard. He was a sergeant E-5 with Alpha Battery 1-145 Field Artillary. He honorably served a tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom three. He was often quoted as saying that his year in Iraq was the best year of his life. He felt as though he did more for the common good of humanity than at any other time is his life.
Mathew was an Eagle Scout. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and served in several scouting capacities. He was also heavily involved in the South Ogden area AYSO soccer program where he served as the regional coach administrator, referee administrator, and coached his four boys’ soccer teams.
Mathew worked at the Chevron Station on Hwy 89 and Skyline Drive and enjoyed greeting all who came his way.
He was a dedicated fourth grade teacher at West Point Elementary School in Davis County Schools. He had a great passion for teaching and was very excited about his class this year.
He wanted nothing more than to be a good husband and father.
Mathew will be missed by many, his life touched so many. He was a very outgoing person that had many acquaintances. Those close to Mathew can attest that it was hard to go anywhere with him without Mathew knowing someone and having to take a few minutes to talk with them.
Mathew is survived by his wife, Angie; five children, Bailee Carol Morris, Joshua Tim Morris, Connor Jerry Morris, Carson Robert Morris, and Drake Mathew Morris. Bailee and Connor, children from Angie’s first marriage, were adopted by Mathew per their request this year. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Tamra and Larry Mortenson; and Angie’s parents, Jerry and Carol Walling and siblings and spouses, Aaron and Lisa Morris, Rachel and Nate Reeve, Trevor and Sarah Morris, Sarah and Matt Crane, and Margaret and Shane Pearson; and 19 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, John R. “Jack” and Sybella Morris and George C. and Mary Clifton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 6th Ward Chapel, 5735 Crestwood Dr., Ogden, Utah, conducted by Bishop Tony Jimenez. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
