Our treasured son, brother, uncle, and friend Matthew David Stewart, 39, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2013 after a long and courageous battle while defending our Constitutional rights.
As a lifelong resident, Matthew was born in Ogden, UT on May 21, 1974 to Michael Eugene and Sonja Landin Stewart. He graduated from Ogden High School with his class of 1992. As a patriot, he chose to serve his country in the US Army. Matthew served honorably as a Communications Specialist in the 35th Signal Brigade, was a decorated Airborne soldier and earned many ribbons and awards. While enlisted Matthew was stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Ansbach, Germany.
Matthew loved animals, believed strongly in the healing arts, and was a licensed massage therapist. He was very knowledgeable of herbal remedies, aromatherapy, essential oils, and Chakra work. Matthew was a naturalist and a naturist who felt a strong spiritual connection while outdoors and gained strength from sunshine.
He constantly expressed himself through music. He used it to communicate and share emotion with those he loved. He was incredibly intelligent and was always educating himself on the wonders and beauty of life. He was an intuitive, sensitive soul who often searched for a higher meaning and symbolism in everyday life. He had a genuine sense of humor but only shared it fully with those close to him. He put others before himself and was a generous, giving person. Matthew will always be remembered as a sweet, caring spirit to those who knew him.
Matthew is survived by his parents, brothers and sisters, Nathan (Erna) Stewart, Gabriel Stewart, Rachel (Zach) Faulkner, Sarah (Jared) Hone; nephew, Emmett Faulkner; niece Oleigh Hone; aunts and uncles, Leslie (Jim) Pobanz, Valerie (Dan) Perkins, Cynthia (Brad) Duke, Pamela (Jack) Toll, Don (Lydia) Landin; many supportive and loving cousins, and his faithful fat cat, Sabrina.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene and Elaine Stewart, Adeline and Lewis Nielsen, and Tage Landin; and his half-brother, Eugene Smith.
Funeral services were privately held. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
