Matthew Kendall Thorne

September 5, 2001 – August 23, 2018

Our amazing son was born on a stormy day in Layton, UT and raised by parents who loved and adored him, Kendall and Trina Thorne.

He lived a life full of adventure.  He loved fly fishing and hunting.  Being in nature was his absolute favorite thing.  He always wanted to be hiking or on the river.  He had a passion for rock hounding and was starting a business making and selling jewelry from the rocks he found.

Matthew was an excellent student.  He quickly grasped difficult subjects such as math, science and computers.  In the preceding weeks, he tutored other students in these subjects.

He was a great leader and served on the staff at Camp Fife for two years with the National Youth Leadership Training Program of The Boys Scouts of America.  He was two merit badges away from achieving the rank of Eagle, having already completed his service project.

He enjoyed time with his friends playing Magic, Dungeons and Dragons and discussing any comic book character and their attributes and weaknesses.  His friends are fantastic, and we will forever be grateful for their love and support for Matthew.

He had a wonderful relationship with his family.  His love for his sister Mikayla is unrivaled and the teasing of all the siblings, including younger brothers Aiden and Bryce, was endless.  He had a tremendous sense of humor and an infectious smile. He loved his time with extended family and had great relationships with cousins, aunts and uncles.

Matthew’s life was too short, and he will be missed until we are reunited.  Our lives will never be the same and we will forever be touched by the opportunity to have been a part of his life.

Matthew is survived by his parents Kendall and Trina Thorne, sister Mikayla (14), brothers Aiden (12) and Bryce (8).  Grandparents Gale Sr. and Donna Thorne, Scott and Darlene Wangberg, Great-Grandfather Don Wangberg, Great-Grandmother Loann Robinson and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We, all of us, express gratitude to the God of Heaven and Earth, who has made our reunion certain.
