Maureen Ann Anderson Stoleson

September 28, 1936 ~ February 9, 2015

Maureen passed away suddenly on Monday morning February 9, 2015 at Emeritus Estates after a short, difficult battle with the evil disease, Dementia.  The sun was shining when she left us and I know she will be looking for her beloved, Father, Hank as she enters that world she has so needed these last fast weeks.

Maureen “Mo” was born on September 28, 1936 in Missoula, Montana to Hank and Hazel Anderson.  She attended high school there and after graduation attended Modern Business College where she specialized in bookkeeping and finances.  She met her future husband, Roland while ice skating at the University of Montana Rink.  They married in June of 1959 and produced two sons, Kevin and Kyle who moved around with them a lot because of Roland’s job with the Federal Forest Service.  While in Virginia, Mo worked at the local high school as their Finance Officer.  Later, she became Office Manager for a Law Firm in Twin Falls, Idaho.  They ended their moves when transferred to Ogden, Utah where Roland later retired.  While stationed in Riggins, Idaho, Mo trained and became a certified EMT along with her eldest son, Kevin.  She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and cross-stitch and made numerous afghans for family and for those in hospitals.

While in Ogden, she volunteered as a Domestic Violence Advocate with the Weber County Sherriff’s Office and she, along with painless

several friends supported victims throughout the county.  Though no longer working in the field, she and her friends (the group call themselves the Divas) continued to socialize and had many dinners together at Rainbow Gardens.  Mo was also very active in The Order of Eastern Star both in Twin Falls and Ogden.  She was the treasurer for Ogden’s Queen Esther Chapter of OES for many years.

Mo is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roland; a brother, Darrell (Carol) of Missoula, MT; her two wonderful sons, Kevin (Michelle) of Yuma, AZ; and Kyle (Diane) of New Prague, MN; four grandkids and three great-grandkids.

Cremation will take place but no services are planned as yet.  Mo would suggest rather than flowers, any memorials be directed to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children – Intermountain: Fairfax Road at Virginia Street, SLC UT 84103.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

Our family thanks Lillian, Diana, Angela “Angel” and the many others at Emeritus Memory Care Unit for their unceasing, professional attempts to give Mo the peace she deserved during the short time she was in their care.

Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 4 p.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 3:30 to 4 p.m. at the mortuary.
