Maurice Paul Hock
1923-2009
Bountiful - Our father’s dream of being reunited with his sweetheart has been fulfilled. Maurice Paul Hock peacefully passed from mortality Monday, February 2, 2009.
Maurice was born December 4, 1923 to William Price Hock and Clara Ogden. He married Wanda Thurgood March 31, 1949 in Clearfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
After graduating from West High School, he served in the United States Army, earning the Combat Infantryman Badge, participating in the Normandy invasion and serving to the conclusion of World War II. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman, brakeman, and yardmaster.
Maurice joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1955 and was an active member throughout his life. He will be remembered for his kindness, optimism, and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his sons Michael (Eileen), David (Jeanette), Bruce (Tamara), Steven (Michelle) and daughter Sharon (Thomas) Busby; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; also survived by his sisters Billie Toone, Francis Cooley, Marilyn (Kenneth) Oliver, and a sister-in-law Lois Sharp. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Val Verda Stake Center located at 2651 S. 500 W. Bountiful. Friends may call Friday, February 6 from 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E and Saturday 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
