Maurice William Webster 1932-2024

The old man of the mountains has made his final journey home to our Heavenly Father. He made his last climb with his beloved wife Sandy, and his children at his side, all bound together in love and their temple covenants.

Maurice William Webster, known as “Reece” by family and friends died peacefully October 9, 2024 in Bountiful, Utah. Reece was born on a small farm in Kaysville, Utah to Leroy and Effie Webster on September 25, 1932. He married Sandra Hepworth of Bountiful, Utah in 1951. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Reece was a true man’s man, never afraid of the rough road ahead or the challenge at hand. He loved to hunt, fish, ski, golf, and participate in all kinds of sports. He never turned down an opportunity to pursue an outdoor adventure. He was an avid fan of University of Utah athletics. As a young man Reece was a pioneer in alpine skiing in Utah. In his 20’s he helped lead a group of Boy Scouts into the remote Escalante Canyon, long before Lake Powell.

He was a range firefighter, farmhand, ranch hand, cement contractor, home builder, salesman, clothier, manufacturer rep, Realtor-Broker, tour guide, just to list a few of his occupational pursuits.

Reece and Sandy longtime residents of Bountiful, Utah, served two full time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one to Nairobi, Kenya, and one to Auckland, New Zealand. Reece believed in Christ and was always willing to help his family and neighbors.

Reece and Sandy have a remarkable posterity that includes, 4 children, Cathi (Greg) Allen, Brent (Pam), Cory (Jill), Kim (Scott) Hosking, 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and very soon 1 great-great grandchild. He was a true family man. His best friends were his wife, his children and their families.

We express our love and thanks to the medical professionals of Dignity Home Health & Hospice and Monument Health Care Facility of Bountiful, Utah.
