NORTH OGDEN a€" Maurine Johns Garner, 91, died Saturday, November 22, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born October 1, 1917 in North Ogden, a daughter of William Thomas and Celia Brown Johns. She was raised and educated in North Ogden graduating from Weber High School.

On February 11, 1942, Maurine married Halver Berrett Garner in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Maurine was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout the years.

She worked for Wheeler''s Market and Wangsgard''s until her retirement.

Maurine enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, making hook rugs, and collecting figurines.

Surviving are her husband, Halver, of North Ogden; two sons and one daughter, Glen Halver Garner, Vern Johns (Becky) Garner, Sharon (Steven) Bailey; 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Donna Cannon, Joyce Elmer, and Janet Saunders.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, William Vernal Johns, three sisters, Wilma Garner, Theo Mathie, Ranae Johns, and one grandson, Steven Brandon Bailey.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 23rd Ward Chapel, 787 East 1700 North, with Bishop Ryan Carn officiating.

Family and friends may call at the Ward Chapel on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
