Maurine Kay Putnam Greenwell passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the age of 93. Maurine was born February 19, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, the oldest daughter of Horatio Gates (Guy) and Vivian Donaldson Putnam. Maurine grew up in Ogden with her sister and best friend, Carol Gay Wilson. Maurine graduated from Ogden High School in 1949.
On November 4, 1949, Maurine married Lynn Davis Greenwell in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four children and were married for 57 years before Lynn passed away in 2007. After all of her children were in school Maurine went to work for Goldenwest Credit Union and retired from there after 18 years.
Maurine was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in her lifetime. She was very talented and wrote funny poems and was trained in dramatic reading. She enjoyed her involvement in church and community theater. Maurine spent much of her time crocheting, knitting and quilting. She loved animals and always had a dog as her companion. Maurine loved to travel and could be ready to go anywhere with no notice at all. She had a quick wit and was a lot of fun.
Maurine is survived by her children, Lynette Greenwell, Carrie (Lloyd) Baker, Mark (Gwen) Greenwell, and Scott Greenwell; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; and her sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a great-grandson, Logan Travis Baker.
