Max A Brunker

Max A. Brunker died peacefully in his sleep on July 17, 2013 at 94 years of age. He was born in Brigham City, Utah to Leslie and Mae Olson Brunker on December 2, 1918. He graduated from Box Elder High School and attended Weber College.

He married Betty Baker on August 17, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they enjoyed seventy wonderful years together. They were blessed with three children, two girls and one son: Karen (Kirk) Peery of Taylorsville; Laurie (Brad) Williams of Ogden; and Roger (Julie) Brunker of Roy, Utah. Their father said they were the three most wonderful children in the world.

Max had a beautiful tenor voice and loved to play his guitar and for many years he was invited to entertain at various civic and public affairs. He also sang at countless funerals and weddings. During World War II he entered the Signal Corps, was changed to a Radar Unit and then was attached to the Air Corps. He was sent to the South Pacific and was on Iwo Jima when the war ended. He returned home on his birthday, December 2, 1945.

He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a supervisor and retired after 38 years. After his retirement, he volunteered for McKay-Dee Hospital installing Life Lines for Senior Citizens. He was awarded the "Silver Bowl" by Governor Bangerter for his many hours of volunteer service. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in two bishoprics, executive secretary and many other positions.

He loved to travel and he and his wife spent many special years together enjoying new sights and interesting places. He was always talking about the wonderful life he had and was always finding the good in everything and everybody. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, three children, his brother-in-law, Fred A. Baker, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

According to his wishes, a private family graveside service has been held. In lieu of flowers, do something special for someone you love. Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
