Max Kunio Hirabayashi, 77, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his home in Layton, Utah.
He was born April 17, 1941 in Syracuse, Utah the son of Kuichi and Yasu Nisogi Hirabayashi.
Max married Kathleen Akie Inouye on December 7, 1961 in Ogden, Utah.
In his high school days, Max was an All-American baseball pitcher at Davis HS. He was also an avid golfer, loved fishing and camping trips with his family and made frequent trips to Wendover, Mesquite and Vegas. He enjoyed traveling to such places as Hawaii, Alaska, South Carolina and Palm Springs. He was a proud and devoted Grandpa to all his grandchildren.
Survived by his devoted wife Akie and son, Dean (Rise) Hirabayashi, daughter Cynthia (Jeff) Kida. Grandchildren Ethan and Olivia Hirabayashi, Brandon, Kelsey and Cami Kida. Also, sister Lola (Stom) Yamamoto, sister-in-law Marie Hirabayashi and brother-in-law Tom Nagao.
Preceded in death by parents, brother’s Dick and George, sister June Nagao and two infant siblings.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Kidney Dialysis Centers in Layton and Ogden; Dr. Almony, Dr. DeGrauw and Dr. McDonald for their compassionate care during Max’s many health challenges.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral at the mortuary. Officiated by Reverend Jerry Hirano from the Buddhist Church.
Private interment service for family and friends at a later date.
