Max D. Lamph, 95, went to meet his sweet wife and life partner, Edna, on August 25, 2013.
Max was born on August 14, 1918 in Rains, Utah, a coal tent city west of Helper, to David D. and Elnora Seeley Lamph.
He married Edna Burton on August 30, 1946 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2001.
Max graduated from Provo High School and did under graduate work at Brigham Young University and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah in 1942. While attending school he worked with his father on many remodeling jobs throughout northern Utah to help support their family during the Great Depression.
While attending Brigham Young University, Max served in the Utah National Guard. In July 1942, he was drafted in the US Army Air Corps, 314th Troop Carrier Group and served as a sergeant in the United States, North Africa, Sicily, England, and France. He was honorably discharged in November 1945 and joined his family in Ogden.
He began his law practice in 1946 when he became a deputy in the Weber County Attorney''s office, serving 30 years as a deputy, chief deputy and County Attorney. He also maintained a private partnership law practice for many years with L. Roland Anderson and Robert L. Newey.
He was a member and served as president of the Ogden Lions Club, The Patio Springs Country Club, a member of the Ogden Elks, The Footprinters, and the 20-30 Club. Among their many social activities he and Edna enjoyed bridge, dancing and golf together. While playing golf at Patio Spring, Max shot two holes in one.
Max and Edna loved their children very much and enjoyed many family vacations to Yellowstone Park, Southern California, and various State and National Parks, as well as trips to Seattle and New York City for the World''s Fairs. Their family also enjoyed being together while golfing, swimming and other fun activities at Patio Springs. Max also enjoyed reading, rock hunting, and playing golf with friends.
Max was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and joyfully served many callings within the South Ogden and Ogden Stakes and various wards. He served an LDS Stake Service Mission.
His generosity, optimism and kindness will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Max is survived by his two children, Dee Max (Cindy) Lamph and Judy (Tom) Cannon; six grandchildren, Travis (Amanda) Lamph, AnaMaria (Nick) Accardi, Tony (Ashley) Lamph, RosaLee (Dustin) Stump, Susie (Aaron) Boerboom, and Max Moncrief; and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Gloria) Lamph.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; his sister, Marjorie England and his grandson, Eric Lamph.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., South Ogden.
