Max Rich

Max Shepherd Rich

Max S. Rich, husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather passed away September 18, 2014.

Max was born in Pocatello, Idaho June 6, 1930 the son of Earl and Flora Shepherd Rich.

After graduating from Pocatello High School he attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles California, where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Commercial Art. Max accepted an assignment at La Martinerie Air Force Base in Chateauroux, France as a technical Illustrator for 2 years, then moved to Ogden, Utah where he worked for Hill Air Force Base for 32 years. He retired from Hill in 1987 as Chief of Industrial Safety. He then went to work for Thiokol Corp. where he was Supervisor of the Safety Engineering Group, Space Division.  He also ran his own business.

Max was an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting.  His artwork can be found in many private collections.

He was a High Priest in the LDS Church and he taught the Gospel Doctrine Class for over 9 years and was first Counselor in the Bishopric. He was High Priest Group Leader, President of the Sunday school and served in many positions.

On August 23, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, A. June Eskelsen, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple in Logan, Utah. Their children are daughter Debra and Son Scott Douglas Rich. They are also the proud grandparents of seven children and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Mtn View Health Services Nursing Home for the kind and loving care given to Max.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
