MAX HARLAN TAYLOR
1993-2019
Max Harlan Taylor was our precious and beloved son, who came to live with us on May 5, 1993. He was an outstanding brother to Bridget and Matt, Maddie, Jack, and Jeffrey. He was a bright light in our lives. He had so many friends which he gathered from everywhere, and he was loving and loyal to all of them. His potential for loving unconditionally and doing good was unmatched. He refused to judge others, preferring to love and work through relationships.
Max was an excellent athlete, an extremely co-ordinated kid who loved playing hockey, basketball and tennis. Max was blessed with incredibly good friends and a loving family. After a long struggle with addiction and depression that began in high school, his life ended unexpectedly on August 2nd.
Having just returned from our annual vacation to Bear Lake, which Max was always so excited about, we as a family went to California to visit him. We had just spent an amazing week at the beach with him and his beautiful girlfriend Cheyenne, and her two littles. We got to see what he would’ve been like as a dad, a role that he was so excited to play. He stepped into those shoes for a brief time, and adored Bowie and Brixton. How could we have known the pictures and memories from that week would be our last? But we are aware of the tender mercies that are abounding at this time, and we will always be grateful for the last precious weeks we spent together when Max was so happy and in his prime.
Max loved and could converse extensively about Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Game of Thrones. He read books like crazy, and was blessed with a sharp mind, a great capacity for reading and writing, and spoke Spanish beautifully. Raised “Mormon”, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 2014 - 2016 in the California San Fernando Spanish-Speaking Mission, where he was able to love and teach and learn about our Savior. He was an amazing and funny Elder, and wherever he went there might be loud singing, possible dancing, great conversation, and tons of laughter.
He loved his family fiercely and was committed to rehearsals for the annual Taylor Family Christmas Program, and summer vacations at Bear Lake and Lake Blaine.
Max leaves behind his mother Loriann, his father Bob, his amazing siblings, his wonderful aunts and uncles a bunch of cousins who adored him, and also the loves of his life, Cheyenne, and her two children, Brixton and Bowie.
Following a viewing and candlelight memorial service on the beach in California, we will return Max to be buried in the Centerville, Utah cemetery close to his grandma Judy. Services are scheduled to begin at 12:00 at the Lindquist Mortuary on 727 North 400 East in Bountiful on Saturday, August 10.
