Maxene Lowder Hadley Hunt

March 8, 1928 ~ December 15, 2014

Maxene Lowder Hadley Hunt, 86, returned home to her Heavenly Father, on December 15, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to Ira and Thersa Lowder on March 8, 1928.  She grew up in North Ogden and spent her childhood working in her parent’s store. No matter where she moved, she always considered North Ogden her home.  She graduated from Weber High School.  On August 14, 1946 she married Ezra R. Hadley in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in West Weber and raised their four children, Alan, Kent, Jan and Lori.  They later divorced.

Maxene married Archie F. Hunt on March 18, 1982 in Plain City where they have spent the past 32 years.  They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple.  Archie has been a devoted and caring husband and treated Maxene like a queen.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, Primary and her favorite calling was ward chorister.

She worked as a secretary for 25 years in the Agricultural Department (ASCS Office).  She enjoyed bowling, golf, skiing, playing the organ, crocheting, and animals, especially cats.  She loved getting together with her West Weber girlfriend bunko club and later her Plain City Pinochle group.  A favorite tradition was sewing with grandma, making candy at Christmas time, and keeping her refrigerator filled with everyone’s favorite soda.

She loved being surrounded by her family and could always be found supporting them at their many activities. Her home was an inviting gathering place for holidays and birthdays. Everyone loved to visit and to be welcomed by grandma and grandpas hugs.

Maxene and Archie enjoyed dancing, traveling, and several cruises.  In 2006, they took their entire family of 27 to Hawaii, which is still one of our favorite memories.

Maxene is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Archie F. Hunt; daughters, Jan (Joe) Greenwell and Lori Hales; daughter-in-law, Karen (Craig) Cooper; step-children Teresa (Scott) Christensen and  Mitch (Margie) Hunt; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; as well as her brother, Shurl Lowder and sister-in-law, Ileen Lowder.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Alan Hadley and Kent Hadley; three brothers, Jay, Wayne, and Doug Lowder; and sister, Doris Patterson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Plain City 2 nd Ward, 2952 N. 4200 W.  Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment will be at the Plain City Cemetery.

The family thanks Emeritus Assisted Living for their loving care of our sweet mother.
